AMSBATH – The Amazon School of Basic Theology
We offer basic Bible theology training free to Amazonian church pastors and leaders with little economic resources. Our objective is to prepare them for more effective local ministry and also to train them in planting new churches in river villages where there are none.
Training Centers
We have been training students in three training centers: in the communities of Leoncio Prado, Ollanta, and Nueva Esperanza. The first school of 35 students graduated in the fall of 2009.
Training Method
We use 7 intensive training sessions, each lasting 7 days and occurring every 4 months. Between sessions the students study with materials that we provide. After completing the 7 sessions the students graduate with an AMSBATH diploma.
Is there really a need for this school?
Yes, and the need is overwhelming, because few pastors have any basic theology training, and their church lay leaders have none at all. Often both pastors and leaders are simply put into positions without any training at all.
Opportunities to serve with AMSBATH
There are opportunities for:
1. Teachers who are willing to come and invest in the lives of these precious brothers and sisters.
2. Intercessors, because our enemy’s fury is great, and even greater is the need for the presence of our God in all that we do.
3. Financial partners, so that we can continue to offer the school and open new centers. Each student’s classes and materials cost approximately $10 U.S. dollars monthly.
Those who would like to serve with other gifts would be welcome with open arms.
